Palladium 29 August 2011

Hi Martyn

Many thanks for your mail. We had a wonderful day - and it was a pleasure to have you sing with us. We received some fantastic feedback on the Welsh section, and personally we very much appreciated your professionalism and sense of humour!

We'd be more than happy to work with you again in the future - watch this

Foreign & Commonwealth Office Concert

Foreign & Commonwealth Office

Reception to celebrate St David’s Day
given by

The Rt Hon Carwyn Jones AM
First Minister of Wales

on Thursday 10th March 2011
12:15pm to 2:30pm.

Pauline and I would just like to thank you and the choir for your wonderful performance yesterday and for your flexibility and enthusiasm throughout. We are sorry that you were unable to do a third performance for us at the end of the reception. Unfortunately it is an occupational hazard with diplomats, they are often popping in and out of different events. Normally we would have had more staff working such an event so more time to spend with the choir. The constraints of working the Foreign & Commonwealth Office i.e. security etc. also meant we were unable to give you our full attention. Our apologies.

We really appreciate how you put yourselves out to work with us and for any future events we hold in the London area we will be sure to get in touch. The comments received about the choir were very complimentary, especially from the Secretary of State for Wales.

Thanks again

Best wishes

Beth

Marshfield Concert Saturday 7 May

From Rhian Chillcott, organiser of the Marshfield concert.

Could you please pass on my warmest thanks to all members of the choir who performed on Saturday night.  Growing up in the Valleys, I've heard many male voice choirs, but Saturday's concert really stood out as one of the best.  I loved your choice of songs and felt that the choir put their hearts into each one.  For me personally, 'Myfanwy' and 'Gwahoddiad' were the highlights of the evening: 'Myfanwy' moved me to tears and 'Gwahoddiad' filled me with pride.  I thought the encore piece, 'Old Time Religion', was a fantastic way to end - really fun and spot on with the personal reference to Marshfield!

The feedback we've had from members of the audience has been great.  I haven't been able to walk down the street without someone stopping to tell me how much they enjoyed the evening, and I've had quite a few enquiries as to when you'll be back (which I hope you will).  The land lady of The Catherine Wheel, where we had the Afterglow, has also expressed her thanks to you as apparently takings were hugely up thanks to everyone enjoying the 'hywl' into the early hours.

I'm so grateful to you all for travelling to Marshfield and staying overnight, at your own expense.  The whole weekend was such a giving thing on your part and your generosity of spirit and real understanding of our situation as a small charity meant that we were able to raise significant funds for our pre-school.  Everyone I came into contact with, both in the run up to the concert and on the night, was a true ambassador for the choir and made me feel very proud indeed to be Welsh.
